Communication With the Dead

The Bible makes it clear that we become totally unconscious when we die. The only power that can recall us from that state is God, who promises to resurrect those who believe in His Son. I Corinthians 15:35-58 details how He will restore His servants from the deep ‘sleep’ of death, giving each an incredible new body, soul and spirit. We will never be drifting, bodiless ghosts.1

The Bible reveals that when a man dies his conscious existence is suspended until his resurrection:

Do not put your trust in princes, nor in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation. His spirit goes out, he returns to the earth; in that day his thoughts perish. Psalm 146:3 & 4

The dead do not praise Jehovah, nor do all who go down into silence. Psalm 115:17

There are many other scriptures which also confirm that man is in an unconscious state after death.

Obviously “channellers” cannot have the spirits or souls of the dead speaking through them, as the dead are totally inert. This leaves us with only two possibilities:

The first possibility, and probably the most common, is that the medium or necromancer (the traditional names for a channeller) is a fake. There are many people who desperately miss a deceased loved one and are willing to pay generously for another chance to speak with them. Unfortunately, there are also many people who desperately want to become rich and are willing to lie to do so.

The second possibility is far more sinister. There are invisible spirit beings that are willing to use mediums. These spirits are not our friends, however, nor God’s.

These beings were created as angels, but they heeded Satan’s voice and turned against God. (See Revelation 12:7-12) They have become like their master—full of lies and hate. Like him, they are devious and delight in causing pain and suffering. And they have had almost six thousand years of experience to sharpen their ‘skills’. A medium who is being used by one of these demons—to give them their real name—may be able to reveal details that no human knows. The demons can even imitate the voice of a dead loved one. But it is all a trap! Remember, they are playing the long game: they have been preparing to bring you down for decades. Their deception is designed to lure you into eternal destruction and, whenever possible, make you, your family and your friends suffer immensely along the way.

These are the beings that work Ouija boards, that masquerade as aliens, that take control of people and stay in them against their will.2 They are not a joke nor an idle amusement. Hear what God says about these things:

‘Give no regard to necromancers and wizards; do not seek after them, to become unclean by them. I am Jehovah your God.’ Leviticus 19:31

‘And the soul who turns after necromancers and wizards, to fornicate with them himself, I will set My face against that soul and cut him off from his people.

‘Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be sacred, for I am Jehovah your God.’ Leviticus 20:6-7

“There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who conjures spells, or a magician, or an observer of omens, or one who makes charms, or a necromancer or a wizard, or one who calls up the dead.

“For all who do these things are detestable to Jehovah, and because of these abominations Jehovah your God drives them out from before you.” Deuteronomy 18:10 to 12

And when they say to you, “Seek those who are necromancers and wizards, who whisper and mutter,” should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living? To the Instructions and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. Isaiah 8:19 and 20

1 Revelation 20:11-15 outlines another resurrection, the resurrection of those who didn’t believe and obey Jesus. These people will be raised with mortal bodies, so they can be judged.
